Cranbrook School's steps to Giving Day success
We will be joined by Ant Tomlinson, Head of Marketing & Development at Cranbrook, a co-educational state day and boarding selective grammar school in Kent.
With a background in strategic communications and community engagement, Ant leads the school’s fundraising, alumni relations and marketing functions. He recently oversaw the successful launch of Cranbrook Gives – the school’s refreshed Giving Day – helping to raise vital funds while strengthening connections across the wider school community.
Ant will share top tips and insights on how to successfully plan and implement a Giving Day, specifically covering:
- Start small, think big: Giving Days don’t have to be perfect from the outset – focus on momentum, community and storytelling over perfection.
- Don’t separate fundraising from engagement: Every touchpoint is a chance to deepen connection – from emails and social posts to student-led initiatives.
- Internal buy-in is everything: Success depends on getting staff, students and leadership on board – not just parents and alumni.
- The platform makes a difference: Working with Hubbub gave us the structure, confidence and flexibility to deliver a Giving Day that felt bespoke, not off-the-shelf.
