As the team at the University of York head into their fifth Giving Day, hear from Tom and Jessica about their journey of creating a growing and sustainable Giving Day programme

Join us as we welcome Tom Piercy, Head of Fundraising Programmes and Community Engagement, and Jessica Roehricht, Community Giving Officer at the University of York to the series. In this episode, Tom and Jessica will introduce the story of York’s Giving Day programme over the past 4 years and touch on how they’ve successfully embedded this within their wider programme.

Our Speakers:

Tom Piercy, Head of Fundraising and Community Engagement, University of York

Tom started his fundraising career in the charity sector working for the likes of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home and Prostate Cancer UK. During his time in the charity sector Tom specialised in regular giving acquisition and new product development. Five years ago, Tom made the move into Higher Education to head up the University of York’s Participation Giving Team. Tom was tasked with diversifying York’s programme to maximise the impact of York’s first ever institutional philanthropic campaign.Tom currently leads a programme that utilises a range of marketing channels including direct mail, telephone fundraising, email, social media, community fundraising, giving days and crowdfunding.

Jessica Roehricht, Philanthropy Officer (Community Giving), University of York.

Jessica joined the Office of Philanthropic Partnerships and Alumni at the University of York in 2021, having previously worked in other roles at the university. Jessica’s fundraising role is varied, with responsibility for leading York’s community fundraising, crowdfunding, and annual Giving Day.
